Double iSmart Release Date Locked

The upcoming Telugu movie Double iSmart has locked its release date for June 14th. This comes after the director Puri Jagannadh’s previous movie Liger flopped at the box office. There are high expectations for Double iSmart, which stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the lead role.

‘KanuPapa’, the lovely crime thriller, releases on Feb 3rd

Complete Actor Mohanlal’s ‘KanuPapa’, directed by the acclaimed director Priyadarshan, will hit the screens on Feb 3rd. Presented by Dileep Kumar Bolugoti’s Overseas Network Entertainment, it is brought to the Telugu audience by Mohanlal himself. This dubbed version of Malayalam hit ‘Oppam’ belongs to the crime thriller genre.

At a press meet held today in Hyderabad, Executive Producer Srinivasa Murthy said, “Coming after the success of ‘Manyam Puli’, the story is in the mould of ‘Pasivadi Pranam’. Mohanlal garu is seen in the role of a blind man. ‘KanuPapa’ is high on human values and we are confident that it will be a big hit.”

Presenter Dileep Kumar said, “Warangal is my native town. I have entered the industry with the aim of bringing out novel films. I have got the remake rights of ‘Oppam’ through ‘Sindhura Puvvu’ Krishna Reddy garu. I am hoping that ‘KanuPapa’ will be accepted by the audience.”

‘Sindhura Puvvu’ Krishna Reddy said, “We all know how brilliantly Chiranjeevi garu performed in ‘Pasivadi Pranam’ in the role of an adult fighting to save a child’s life. ‘KanuPapa’ is about how it will be like if the hero’s character is blind. This is a genuinely fresh entertainer with a marvellous performance from Mohanlal garu. This is a lovely crime thriller that won’t disappoint any.”

Baby Meenakshi has playing the child’s role. Vimala Raman, Anusree, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Renji Panicker, Chemban Vinod Jose and others are seen in other key roles.

The story is from Govind Vijayan, whereas the screenplay is from Priyadarshan himself. The lyrics are from Vennelakanti, Vanamali, Anantha Sriram. The dialogues are written by M Rajasekhara Reddy.

The music is by 4 Musics (Jim Jacob, Biby Mathew, Eldhose Alias and Justin James). NK Ekambaram is the cinematographer. MS Ayyappan Nair is the editor.

Mohanlal’s ‘Kanupapa’ audio on Jan 25th; movie on Feb 3rd

Malayalam crime thriller ‘Oppam‘, starring Mohanlal in the role of a blind man, is one of the biggest hits in Mollywood’s history. Pipping the records of even superhits, this Priyadarshan-directed thriller, which was released on last Sept 8, has collected Rs. 50 cr so far. Such is its Box Office stamina. This is going to be remade into Hindi and Kannada by Ajay Devgn and Shivrajkumar, respectively. In Telugu, it will be a dubbed version titled ‘Kanupapa’.

Telling the story of a blind elevator operator (a challenging role essayed with panache by the redoubtable Complete Actor), who has to nab the actual killer when he is wrongly charged with a murder at the apartment, the film comes with nuanced elements like Mohan Lal’s character possessing certain extra-ordinary sensory powers.

Bowled over by the content, many producers tried their best for the Telugu remake rights of this movie. Finally, Aashirvad Cinemas and Overseas Network Entertainment are jointly producing this movie’s dubbed Telugu version ‘Kanupapa’. Mohanlal is the producer and Dileep Kumar Bolugoti is the presenter.

Kanupapa’s audio release function will be held on Jan 25th. A popular actor will release it. The film will hit the screens on Feb 3rd.

Since the Malayalam superstar has endeared himself to Telugu audience with two back-to-back films (‘Manamantha’ and ‘Janatha Garage’) in recent times, ‘Kanupapa‘ will be greatly awaited in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Speaking about the movie, the Superstar says, “I have played a blind man in this thriller. We are happy to release this entertainer on Feb 3rd. I hope the Telugu audience will make our movie a success as have the Malayalam movie audience.”
