AP Police File Case Against Ram Gopal Varma Over Defamatory Posts | CineChitram

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is facing legal trouble as the Andhra Pradesh government has registered a case against him. The case, filed under the IT Act, was lodged at the Maddipadu police station in Prakasam district.

The case comes after a complaint from Ramalingam, the TDP Mandal General Secretary of Maddipadu, who alleges that Varma posted defamatory content on social media to promote his film Strategy. The posts targeted prominent TDP leaders, including Chandrababu Naidu, his son Lokesh, and Nara Brahmani, with the intention to undermine their reputations.

Recently, the police have started an investigation and have filed a case under IT Act following his complaint. He has been noticed several times for his critical stance against Chandrababu Naidu, especially in favor of the YSRCP government. His films often depicted Chandrababu Naidu in bad light and was held responsible for character defamation by his opponents.

Along with this, it has been reported that the police have acted against some YSRCP activists who insulted political personalities like Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Lokesh. The law enforcement seems to be closely monitoring the activities of the social media portal and is putting through their scanner those who download bad content into cyberspace.
