Christmas Celebrations witnessed an enthusiastic start with traditional Cake Mixing Ceremony at Hotel Daspalla, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
Hotel Daspalla & D Convention Centre in Hyderabad kick-started Christmas festivities in style with the traditional cake mixing ceremony.
Driven by pastry Chef Dominic and Jr. Sous Chef Prashanth Jena, the ceremony began by mixing colorful cherries, dates, plums and dry fruits in a heady concoction of wine and champagne, as guests who were gathered in large numbers cheered.
The evening was soaked in merriment as the crowd joked and mixed the ingredients. The Event was concluded with a Hi-Tea.
Cinema celebrities Yamini Bhaskar, Zabyn Khan attended the event as Chief Guests actively participated in the 50 Kg cake mixing event.
“We love Hyderabad culture because it’s a centre where diverse cultures meet and exchange. Daspalla Hotel is a pioneer in serving the authentic dishes and we enjoy every time coming into this hotel. We are delighted to take part in this cake mixing event,” both the celebrities said.
Considered to be a harbinger of good tidings and happiness, the traditional cake mixing ceremony is a much celebrated concept in Europe. The ceremony marked the beginning of the New Year celebrations and is believed to bring good luck for the coming year.
On Christmas eve, the mixture will be blended with cake batter to make the delicious panettone plum cake and will be served to visitors on Christmas day.
Sounding excited at the occasion, pastry Chef Dominic mentioned that “Our cake this year is going to be special. We are adding all varieties of nuts, juices, and spirits to prepare the dough for the cake. We have used cashew nuts, walnuts, pine nuts, figs, cherries, prunes, pecan nuts and tutti fruti. We are also using several spirits such as brandy and rum to give that heady flavor”.
GENERAL MANAGER, MR. Vijay Tenneti said, “Cake mixing is very popular in the west but I am happy to see it being celebrated with equal enthusiasm as like other Indian festival celebrations in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It’s all about ushering in joy and happiness”.

At The Circle Restaurant we will retail special hand crafted goodies like Christmas Puddings, Plum Cakes, Yule Log, Star Cookies and Chocolate Santas”, said Ramana J V , Executive Assistant Manager.
