AP Cabinet Approves Key Decisions on SC Sub-Categorisation, Capital Development | CineChitram

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has taken several significant decisions, including the approval of a long-awaited draft ordinance for the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs). The Cabinet also cleared vital infrastructure projects for the Amaravati capital region, land allocations for IT sector growth, and initiatives aimed at strengthening welfare schemes.
Approval of SC Sub-Categorisation Ordinance
The Cabinet granted its approval to the draft ordinance concerning the sub-categorisation of 59 SC sub-castes, which will be divided into three groups based on their social and educational status. Minister Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy revealed that Group-1 (12 sub-castes) will receive 1% reservation, Group-2 (18 sub-castes) will be allotted 6.5%, and Group-3 (29 sub-castes) will receive 7.5%. The Cabinet also approved the implementation of a 200-point roster system to ensure equal distribution of educational and employment opportunities across the sub-castes. “This decision aims to ensure unified and equitable progress for SC sub-castes, aligning with constitutional objectives,” Minister Dola stated.
Capital Development and CRDA Decisions
In a major boost for capital infrastructure, the Cabinet approved ₹617 crore for the construction of the new Assembly building and ₹786 crore for the new High Court building in Amaravati. Additionally, the Cabinet delegated the authority to the CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) Commissioner to issue Letters of Agreement (LoA) to the L1 bidders. The Cabinet also ratified key decisions made by the 46th CRDA Authority.
IT and Welfare Focus
On the IT front, the Cabinet approved land allocations for the development of the sector. TCS will receive 21.66 acres at IT Hill-3 in Visakhapatnam, and Urus Clusters Pvt Ltd will receive 3.5 acres. Another 56 acres were allotted to Urus Clusters in Kapuluppada for the establishment of facilities.
In the welfare sector, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha announced that ₹20,000 will be provided to eligible fishermen under the Matsyakara Bharosa scheme on April 26.
Other Major Approvals
The Cabinet also gave the green light for two hydropower projects with a combined 30 MW capacity at Balimela and Jolaput reservoirs. Furthermore, solar and wind energy projects have been approved. Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu confirmed that the DSC (teacher recruitment) notification will be issued soon, with teacher appointments scheduled before the next academic year.
Additional decisions include the allocation of land for a new ESI hospital in Guntur, the provision of land for the Greyhounds unit in Kottavalasa, and the establishment of an underground power cable network across the state.
