Bollywood director Sanoj Mishra has been arrested by Delhi Police following allegations of fraud and sexual assault. A woman from Jhansi has filed a complaint accusing Mishra of deceiving her with false promises of a film opportunity and later subjecting her to assault and blackmail.
According to the complaint, Mishra connected with the woman via TikTok and Instagram in 2020 and frequently contacted her, assuring her of a role in his films. She alleged that he once traveled to Jhansi and coerced her into meeting him by threatening self-harm. Upon meeting, he allegedly took her to a resort, drugged her, and assaulted her. She further claimed that Mishra recorded inappropriate videos and used them to blackmail her, repeatedly exploiting her under the pretense of securing a film role and marriage.
Monalisa Bhonsle’s Casting in Mishra’s Film Under Scrutiny
Mishra recently made headlines for offering a film role to Monalisa Bhonsle, a 16-year-old girl who gained viral fame while selling prayer beads and Rudraksha malas at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela. He cast her in his upcoming film, The Diary of Manipur, and personally met her family in Madhya Pradesh to secure their approval. At the time, he stated, “This is a love story, and Bhonsle will play the lead role. We will conduct acting workshops for her, and filming will begin in April.”
With Mishra’s arrest, the allegations against him are now under investigation. Authorities are expected to conduct further inquiries into the claims made by the complainant.
