Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, who gained recognition among Telugu audiences through her role in Dangal, has made startling revelations about her early career in the Telugu film industry. In a recent interview, Shaikh disclosed that she encountered the casting couch early in her career, specifically during a visit to Hyderabad for a film project. She claimed that a prominent producer made inappropriate advances, suggesting that to succeed in Tollywood, she would have to comply with such demands.
Shaikh described the experience as deeply troubling and stated that it led her to leave the situation. She openly discussed the issue of casting couch and its impact on her.
In response to Shaikh’s allegations, Tollywood producer Muthyala Ramdas dismissed the claims as false and emphasized that such stories were part of misleading propaganda. He argued that it is not appropriate to suggest that opportunities in the industry come with such conditions. Ramdas also pointed out that committees have been established to ensure the safety and well-being of women in the industry and that any concerns should be reported to these committees. He further questioned why Shaikh did not take action against the producer involved at the time.
Producer Natti Kumar also weighed in, criticizing Shaikh for making broad accusations against the Telugu film industry. He demanded that if her claims were legitimate, she should publicly identify the producer and file a formal complaint, rather than making statements without taking official action. Fatima Sana Shaikh had previously appeared in the Telugu film Nuvvu Nenu Okkatavudam.
