Superstar Rajinikanth is gearing up for a grand return with his highly anticipated film ‘Coolie’, directed by the dynamic Lokesh Kanagaraj. With his dazzling narrative skills and mass fanbase, Lokesh collaborating with Rajini has already created a whirlwind of expectation among the film fraternity. The film is now officially set for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2025, and it is going to be a big-screen spectacle.
In a plot twist, the same day will also see the release of ‘War 2’, a Bollywood action flick starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. With two of Indian cinema’s largest heavyweights releasing their movies on the same day, fans are in for an epic box office showdown between Rajinikanth and NTR.
But that’s not where the excitement ends. If industry reports are anything to go by, this high-stakes showdown could continue in 2026 as well. Rajinikanth would start filming ‘Jailer 2’ under Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, NTR will join the shooting floor of his next major action movie with Prashanth Neel, the creator of the KGF series, from April 22, 2025.
Both films are reportedly targeting a release in April 2026, with just a one-week gap separating their premieres. If timelines hold, the Indian film industry could witness back-to-back Rajinikanth vs NTR face-offs—one in 2025 and another in 2026.
