Ism is about journalism. Pre-climax and some scenes in the first half are watchable. Overall the movie is just one time watchable if you are a fan of puri

Cast:

Kalyan Ram, Aditi Arya, Jagapati Babu, Tanikella Bharani, Posani
Story: coming to the story Satya( Kalyan Ram) is a street fighter where he sees Alia (Aditi Arya) and falls in love with her who is the daughter of mafia don Javed Ibrahim ( Jagapati Babu) alias Javed Bhai who controls all the illegal dealings done in India. As usual, alia falls in love with Satya and when Javed Bhai tries to kill him he escapes to India. After that Alia also escapes from his father and catches the flight to India. Why Satya has to escape from Javed Bhai and why they tried to kill him after he reaches India. There are so many questions which will be revealed in the second half too early and the rest you have to watch it on the screen only.

Performance:

Kalyan Ram:

Kalyan Ram has put his effort in this movie sincerely. He had developed his six pack quite nicely which is helpful for only the introduction scene with a fight sequence. Coming to his acting, he has done a good job with his make over and played well even in the emotional scenes. He has been told the regular puri dialogues which attract the mass audience. His emotions worked to some extent in the pre-climax scene at the court.

Aditi Arya presence doesn’t help for the movie as she has been the regular puri heroine with those mass dialogues and acting. And the romantic scenes between Kalyan and Aditi didn’t work out well.
Jagapati Babu with his stylish looks will be apt for the mafia don character, but his characterization hasn’t quite narrated by the director. He explored him as a father rather than a mafia don.
Anup Rubens after a gap didn’t help the movie with his music. All the songs are average and mostly no one will hum the songs after coming out of the theater. Background score is OK for some scenes but not for the whole movie.

Puri Jagannadh:

Puri always comes with some concept and doesn’t execute it well. There are so many scenes which were in a rush. The screenplay is not okay. But Puri with his experience could make this a good film but while watching the movie you cannot expect anything new because in Puri movies hero characterization is always same with recklessness and he doesn’t fear to anyone.

What’s good:

Kalyan Ram is good in the film. Puri concept is good. Pre-climax court scene is good with some dialogues only about corruption where we can see that Puri had put some effort. Jagapati Babu, Tanikella Bharani, are OK and there isn’t much for them to act.

What’s bad:

Aditi Arya presence on screen, screenplay, poor execution of the story with the good concept, music is not up to the mark. Rushing scenes and climax.

How it should have been made:

This movie could have been better if Puri has concentrated more on the concept. Even in the promotions of the film he has done the audience that court scene is the highlight of the movie, but in the second half except die that scene, nothing is watchable even the climax scenes are very silly. It should have been a serious film about journalism and should have been focused more on the issues of the journalist.

Final verdict:

Ism is about journalism. Pre-climax and some scenes in the first half are watchable. Overall the movie is just one time watchable if you are a fan of puri
